I'm Back and Welcome!


Debbie and me on our 58th anniversary this year standing next to the poem I wrote for her birthday in 2007. It only took us 19 years to get it framed, so that's about the way we roll now. 

Here we go again!

After a brief hiatus to deal with a cascade of health issues, I'm back. 

Only this time I'm not on a platform that requires you to fend off endless requests to pay or subscribe or get a newsletter or do anything you don't want to do. 

Bottom line -- if you want to read my stuff, I'm here at chuckwarnock.net. If you don't want to read my stuff, there is no unsubscribe button, no hassle, no "we've missed you" -- although I will -- just articles, photos, videos, maybe some audio recordings, who knows. 

Anyway, I've missed you and hope you drop in here from time to time.

  Buddy the Cat He came to us on a warm day in June, 2016. Our neighbor three doors down had called Debbie, inviting her to come see a recent addition to her rescue cat population. His name was Buddy. Debbie told me she was going to see a rescue cat and I said, “I don’t want a cat.” She said, “I’m just going to see him.” So, Debbie and her mother walked three doors down to see Buddy. When she came back, I knew we were getting a cat. Debbie said he was a beautiful orange tabby cat, who had belonged to an older lady. She had moved to a nursing home and she couldn’t take Buddy. Our neighbor told Debbie Buddy had been placed first in a home with children and dogs, but he didn’t do well. He was scared. She said he needed us. And we needed a cat. This time, we both walked to our neighbors’ house and came home with Buddy. Of course, he was skittish at first, but he quickly discovered we didn’t have any kids or dogs, and we did have a screened back porch which he took to immediately. Buddy...

Our Afternoon Activities

 After snack time today, which we always have about 3 each afternoon, we had art time. If you think that sounds like a daycare schedule, you wouldn't be far off. Did I mention nap time?  Anyway, Debbie gave me an art lesson using watercolors, and you see the result. I am tempted to turn the comments off, but I need a laugh today, so I won't.  Here's what we learned today in art --  1. It's really hard. 2. No, I mean really, really hard. 3. There are way too many decisions.  4. There are even more ways to go wrong than there are decisions.  So, the next time you see a painting and think to yourself, "I could do that" -- just remember -- "No, you couldn't."  Now, on to story time.
